IPOH: Perak executive council member Paul Yong Choo Kiong, who was alleged to have raped his Indonesian maid, could be charged in court on Friday (Aug 23).
When contacted, a source from the deputy public prosecutor’s office, said he could not confirm the matter but advised the media to standby at the Sessions Court.
“I can’t confirm it.
“If it goes on, then it’s on, so members of the press can standby at the court tomorrow, ” he said.
It was reported that the 23-year-old maid lodged a report against Yong last month, accusing him of committing the act at his house in Meru here.
Yong, who is also Tronoh assemblyman, denied any wrongdoing.
Attempts to get comments from Yong's lawyer and Malim Nawar assemblyman Leong Cheok Keng and Perak CPO Datuk Razarudin Husain failed.
When contacted, Perak Criminal Investigation Department chief Assistant Commissioner Anuar Othman said he could not confirm it as the police did not get any information on the matter.
