Logging activities at Kampung Cunex to cease immediately


IPOH: All logging activities near Kampung Cunex in Gerik will be stopped with immediate effect, pending discussions between the Perak Government and the Orang Asli community there.

In a joint statement by Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department P. Waytha Moorthy, they said both the Federal and state governments would work together to resolve the issues there.

“We are committed to achieving a fair and just solution to protect the interests of the Orang Asli community in that area.

“We take the rights of the Orang Asli community very seriously, ” they said.

“Moving forward, the Federal and State governments will work together to resolve any issues regarding the Orang Asli community, ” he added.

The statement was issued following a meeting held on Wednesday (July 31) between Ahmad Faizal and Waytha Moorthy, in the presence of the Attorney General to discuss the Kampung Cunex Orang Asli issue.
