Cops arrest another suspect in double murder probe

NILAI: Police have arrested another suspect in its probe on the double murder of an elderly couple here last Wednesday (July 24).

This brings to five the number of suspects detained so far.

A police spokesman said the last suspect, a 28-year-old woman, was detained on Monday (July 29).

"She has been remanded in Mantin and would be in remand until Aug 5, " he said.

Last Thursday (July 25), Negri Sembilan police chief Datuk Mohamad Mat Yusop said the elderly couple was found dead in a house fire at about 10.45pm in Taman Desa Melati here.

The preliminary investigations revealed that the victims had been living there for 10 years and that stab wounds were found on the couple, identified as 73-year-old Tan Kim Joo and 67-year-old Ng Chong Hwa.

On Friday (July 26), four individuals aged between 30 and 45 were detained to assist the investigations into the case.
