Conspirators churning out lies against Dr Mahathir, says Kit Siang

PETALING JAYA: Conspirators and cybertroopers are working overtime against Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, claims Lim Kit Siang.

The DAP adviser blamed "sinister conspirators and cybertroopers" for "churning out lies and falsehoods" including the "motion of no confidence" against the Prime Minister in the upcoming Parliament session.

"Has there been any positive news in the past week?

"This is undoubtedly the worst week of the Pakatan Harapan government since the historic decision of the 14th General Election on May 9, 2018," said Lim in a blog post on Friday (June 21).

"As next month will prove, this motion of no confidence against Dr Mahathir in Parliament is only the creation of the fevered imagination of sinister conspirators and cybertroopers," Lim added.

Lim said, however, it has not been all doom and gloom, pointing out that Universiti Malaya had made a giant leap up the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings 2020.

UM is now ranked 70 in the latest edition of the international university rankings.

"Another positive news in the past week is the announcement by Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin that the terms of reference for the task force looking into the alleged enforced disappearances of Pastor Raymond Koh and activist Amri Che Mat had been established," he added.

Last week, leaked sex videos implicating Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, a potential successor to Dr Mahathir, with another man have deepened rifts within the ruling coalition and raised concerns of a turbulent transition for the 93-year-old leader.

The sex tapes were widely distributed to journalists and politicians via WhatsApp.

Azmin, who is said to be close to Dr Mahathir, denied he was in the videos, saying that they were a "nefarious plot" to end his political career.
