The new-generation plug-in hybrid, the Mercedes-Benz S 560 e.

The Mercedes-Benz EQ Power brand makes its exciting debut not just in Malaysia but South-East Asia with the premiere of the German luxury marque's EQC.

THE future of mobility is here as Mercedes-Benz Malaysia launched its first plug-in hybrid variant of the S-Class, the S560e, while showcasing the C300e plug-in hybrid and the three-pointed star's all-electric vehicle, the EQC400 4MATIC.

All of these exciting new vehicles now rests under its EQ Power range signifying a new era of mobility without compromising on luxury, comfort, quality, design and driving dynamics.

As Mercedes-Benz Malaysia's vice-president (sales & marketing, passenger cars) Mark Raine succinctly put it: "Electric now has a Mercedes.”

At the launch of "Future of Luxury" in Bandar Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, on June 13, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia set higher targets for its products and branding power on the road ahead.

"EQ covers all major aspects of customer-oriented electric mobility that goes beyond the vehicle itself. As the inventor of the automobile and a premium market leader, we are committed to be the pioneer of this industry with state-of-the art products and innovations to shape the coming mobility landscape.

"As a long-term and committed investor in the country, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia sees much potential in Malaysia’s automotive sector and we are ready for an electrified future. The future of mobility will offer more flexibility and countless new possibilities that will make our lives easier,” he said.

The latest addition to the S-Class family, the Mercedes-Benz S560e (estimated price at RM658,888) is a new-generation plug-in hybrid which combines the 367hp of the V6 spark-ignition engine with an electric output of 90kW (122hp) and 440Nm of torque for an effortlessly superior driving sensation.

The total combined system produces a jaw-dropping 700Nm of torque.

With such a combination of power and efficiency, it allows an acceleration from 0-100kph in five seconds and has an all-electric range of up to 50km thanks to the new lithium-ion battery that has an increased rated capacity.

It is fitted with the 9G-Tronic Plus automatic transmission consisting of the torque converter, clutch and electric motor which is housed in the innovative and compact hybrid drive unit.

The S-Class plug-in hybrid is fitted with Nappa leather, the Exclusive trim package and high gloss burr walnut wood trim.

It is also comes with the Chauffeur package that offers a host of adjustment and setting options for the perfect seating position.

The Chauffeur package comprises the Chauffeur position front-passenger seat, Easy Adjust luxury head restraint for the front passenger and footrest that is power-retractable on the front passenger side.

The luxury plug-in hybrid model will also come with executive seats for rear passengers and multi-contour rear seats.

Also featured is the high-end specifications such as the pre-entry climate control that sets the various temperature settings (air conditioning, heater, heated seats, steering wheel heater, armrest heaters, and optional seat ventilation) for maximum comfort.

The new S-Class also offers a range of Agility Financing starting from RM6,588 and comes with a variety of packages so one can enjoy lower monthly installments, flexible end of agreement options, a guaranteed future value of your car.

Mercedes-Benz C300e

The C300e features Mercedes-Benz’s plug-in hybrid powertrain and latest development of vehicles under the C-Class family.

Its 2-litre, 4-cylinder in-line petrol engine pushes out 211hp at 5,500 rpm mated to a 9G-Tronic automatic transmission producing 350Nm of torque from 1,200rpm-1,400rpm.

The petrol engine works in sync with a 90kW or 122hp electric motor to produce an output of 320hp from 4,500rpm-5,500rpm, as well as a combined torque of 700Nm.

The C300e accelerates from 0 to 100kph in just 5.4 seconds with a top speed of 250kph.

Mercedes-Benz EQC400 4MATIC

The EQC's design, functionality and service place the model as the front-runner for avant-garde electric vehicle.

Making its debut in the South-East Asia region is the EQC400 4MATIC. The EQC brings design, functionality and service together in a unique way as the front-runner for an avant-garde electric vehicle while embodying progressiveness and luxury.

It features two electric motors at the front and rear axles with a combined output of 300kW. Its sophisticated operating strategy gives it an electric driving range of about 450km.

EQ also offers comprehensive services and makes electro mobility convenient and suitable for day-to-day use.

"The South-East Asia premiere of the Mercedes-Benz EQC presents the next generation car, reshaping the future of mobility with a combination of progressive design, state-of-the-art safety assistance, connectivity, digitalization as well as its signature features," said Raine.
