Rela man dies two weeks after wild boar attack

MELAKA: It was a tragic end for a Rela (People's Volunteer Corps) member who died two weeks after being attacked by a wild boar.

The victim Adnan Abdullah, 52, was pronounced dead in the wee hours of Saturday morning (June 1) after having spent close to 14 days at the Intensive Care Unit of Melaka Hospital.

He was attacked by raging wild boar at Kampung Air Tawar in Merlimau on May 17.

State Agriculture, Agro-Based, Entrepreneurs Development and Cooperative Committee chairman Norhizam Hassan Baktee said he received the sad news at 2.50am.

He said Adnan's friends launched a "prayer for Alif" (Adnan's nickname) campaign just as the victim was transferred to ICU on May 17.

"All of them were distraught to hear the news," he said.

Adnan has two children, one of whom is a disabled child.

He was returning home late at night after work when the attack happened.
