Driver rams car into toll gate in Butterworth

GEORGE TOWN: A 26-year-old man's car crashed into the toll gate barrier at the Sungai Dua toll plaza in Butterworth on Sunday (May 19) morning.

In a one-minute, 17-second video clip, the driver was seen overshooting into the barrier at the fourth toll plaza, causing his car to crash into the toll barrier.

The driver then tried to reverse his car, and the barrier pierced through his car’s front window.

A source said the driver did not manage to hit the brakes on time. He escaped injuries.

No casualties were reported during the incident.

The driver was issued a summons under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959 for failing to exercise due control over movements of a vehicle.
