SIBU: Police have advised the public to stop circulating a message about three Islamic State members out to attack churches in Sibu and Bintulu.

Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said on Wednesday (May 15) that circulating this unfounded message would cause panic among the public.

According to the message, three members of the Islamic State group were now in the state and would be planting bombs in churches in Sibu and Bintulu.

The author of the message also asks Christians to pray for the attack not to occur.

"Bukit Aman has received the viral message and found that it was created by irresponsible people to create public disorder," he said.

ACP Stanley said the three individuals had been arrested.
