BEIJING: The fate of the 688km East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) is to be announced today as Tun Daim Zainuddin is here to wrap up discussion on details of the project.
The Special Envoy to the Prime Minister is in the Chinese capital to meet with representatives from China.
Among the issues discussed was the request from Malaysia to reduce project costs.
It is said that the new price will see a major discount on construction fees.
Daim is scheduled to hold a press conference with the Malaysian media at 2pm today.
His trip is ahead of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s visit to China for the Second Belt and Road Initiative Forum to be held here at the end of this month.
So far, representatives from over 100 nations have confirmed their presence at the event.
