Traffic cop rammed by car while directing traffic


KUALA LUMPUR: A policeman escaped serious injury when a car rammed into him while he was directing traffic at a busy intersection on Jalan Raja Laut here.

In the incident that occurred at 8.11am Tuesday (April 2), the policeman was directing traffic at the busy intersection near Dataran Merdeka when a brown luxury car crashed into him, sending him flying for several metres.

Footage of the incident went viral on social media.

City Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Asst Comm Zulkefly Yahya said it was fortunate that the policeman only suffered light injuries to his leg.

He addd that the policeman was taken to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for treatment.

"The driver, a private university student, 25, has been brought to the traffic police station nearby to assist investigations," he said in a statement on Tuesday.
