Mat Hasan: My assets have shrunk since I have no income

SEREMBAN: Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan says that he has been forced to liquidate some of his assets as he no longer has an income.

"If you really want to know what I own now I can tell you that my assets have reduced very much.

"I have been forced to sell my land, house and car because I do not have an income apart from a pension and some allowances," said Barisan Nasional candidate for the Rantau seat.

Mohamad was asked to comment on a statement made by PKR secretary general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution during a ceramah Monday night, who asked how much assets Mohamad probably owned.

Mohamad also said those who were keen to know how much assets he owned were free to check with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission or with the state secretariat.

"The state exco, senior officials and I last declared our assets in 2017 when we were in the government.

"If you really need to know what I have, you can check with them," he told reporters at his ops room in Kg Tanjung in Rantau.

Mohamad, who will be involved in a four-cornered fight for the April 13 by-election, said the practice of declaring assets already existed during Barisan rule.

Mohamad said during his time as mentri besar, it was a norm for him and members of his administration to declare their assets annually.

"I do not see any relevance for me to do so now.

"Those in Pakatan Harapan need to do so because they are in power," he said.

Asked if Datuk Seri Najib Razak would be campaigning for him, Mohamad said he had invited the former premier to do so.

"I was told that he will come to Bandar Ekar either Thursday or Friday but he will surely be coming to Sendayan next week," he said.
