Friends can pay last respects to Stephen Wong until tomorrow

KOTA KINABALU: The body of Sandakan MP and Sabah DAP chairman Datuk Stephen Wong Tien Fatt will be placed at the Fook Lu Siew funeral parlour until Friday (March 29).

Wong's political secretary, Phoong Jin Zhe, who is also Luyang assemblyman, said this was to allow friends and family here to pay their last respects.

"His remains will be sent back to his hometown of Sandakan on Saturday (March 30)," Phoong said in a statement here on Thursday (March 28).

Details of the funeral will be announced later.

Wong collapsed in his car after he went on a hike at the Tambaig Adventure Park in Kg Duvanson, Putatan, near here on Thursday.

He was immediately rushed to a hospital's emergency unit, however, doctors failed to revive him. He was pronounced dead at 12.15pm.
