GEORGE TOWN: The Christchurch terror attacks have opened the doors of those in New Zealand to Islam.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department in charge of religious affairs Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof said from his understanding, those who live near the mosque but never visited it have now done so to understand and get to know Islam.
“It has opened the doors to people understanding Islam,” he told a press conference after launching the “Model Rahmah Mosque Convention” at the Al Malik Khalid Mosque, in Universiti Sains Malaysia Wednesday (March 27).
The March 15 Christchurch terror attacks on two mosques left 50 people dead and scores of others injured.
Meanwhile, Mujahid condemned the attack on Gaza.
“The Cabinet will discuss a motion to be moved in the Dewan Rakyat soon to condemn Israel’s attack on Gaza.
“We hope that Israel would respect the United Nations decision that Gaza is rightfully owned by Palestine.
“Our stand on Gaza is clear, which is that Israel’s occupation of Gaza must end,” he said.
