Former Johor DOSH senior officer fined RM50k for RM30k bribe

JOHOR BARU: A former Johor Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) senior officer was fined RM50,000 in default of 14 months jail for accepting a RM30,000 bribe.  

The accused, Ismail Busrah, 39, pleaded guilty when the charge was read before Sessions Court judge Kamarudin Kamsun on Sunday (March 10).  

Ismail, who was the deputy assistant director of Johor DOSH,  was charged with committing the offence at Jalan Lingkaran Dalam here at about 2.30pm on Oct 31, 2017.  

He had asked for and received the amount from a project manager of a petroleum engineering company as part inducement not to take action against the company for installing a griphoist without getting the department's approval.  

The case was prosecuted by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission deputy prosecutor Mohammed Heikal Ismail while the accused was unrepresented.
