KUALA LUMPUR: A 16-year-old girl died after she was thrown out of a vehicle that has skidded and turned-turtle on Jalan Sungai Besi early on Sunday morning (Feb 24).
Chin Xin Qi, a student from SMK Kepong, died at the scene, while the driver and other passengers suffered multiple injuries in the accident which occurred at about 5am.
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Asst Comm Zulkefly Yahya said police believe the driver Goh Kai Shen, 19, lost control of the vehicle, while driving along Jalan Sungai Besi heading towards the Seremban highway.
“The vehicle skidded and overturned, causing the driver and other passengers to be thrown onto the road.
“Chin, who was seated in the backseat, died on the spot,” he said when contacted.
The driver and other passengers have been sent to the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Hospital for treatment.
“Chin’s body was sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for a post-mortem,” he said.
“The case has been classified under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” ACP Zulkefly said.
The police would be investigating the matter further, he added.
