Semenyih by-election: BN supporter collapses, dies outside nomination centre


SEMENYIH: A Barisan Nasional supporter collapsed and died as he was waiting outside the nomination centre at Dewan Seri Cempaka here Saturday (Feb 16).

It is learnt that 59-year-old Mamat Awang from Kuala Terengganu was part of an entourage accompanying Barisan candidate Zakaria Hanafi to file his nomination papers.

However, he suddenly collapsed around 9.20am and a doctor from a private healthcare centre later declared him dead but the cause has yet to be determined.

His body was later taken to the Kajang Hospital.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Dzaffir Yusoff confirmed the incident.

It is also learnt that Zakaria went to Kajang Hospital to offer their condolences to Mamat’s family accompanied by Barisan deputy chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.
