Cops still waiting for chemistry report on Mat Sabu's son

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are still waiting for the chemistry report on Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu's son, who was detained after testing positive for drugs early this month.

Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said it was still waiting for the report before further action could be taken.

"We have yet to receive the report from the Chemistry Department," he told reporters at the Police Training Centre here on Tuesday (Jan 29).

When asked about how long it would take for the report to be completed, he said it was a question for the Chemistry Department to answer.

It is learnt that Ahmad Saiful Islam Mohamad was picked up by a combined team, involving the Dang Wangi Narcotics Crime Investigation Department and its Secret Society, Gaming and Vice Division (D7), that was conducted on Jan 5 in the Jalan Ampang area.

Sources close to the investigations confirmed that he tested positive for marijuana.

He was among 101 people who were inspected during the anti-vice raid.

It is known that he was among two suspects who were detained for testing positive for the drug.

Meanwhile, on the handing over of duties, Mohamad Fuzi said he was confident that both Datuk Abdul Rahim Jaafar and Datuk Mazlan Mansor would perform their duties well at the Federal Management and CCID respectively.

"Abdul Rahim will be in charge of the department that is the main pulse of the police force. He holds the great responsibility of steering the management machinery so that we are strengthened and well-trained and that the welfare of the personnel within the force is ensured.

"As for Mazlan, I have confident in his experience in handling the Selangor state. His abilities will definitely continue the excellent legacy of the CCID," he said.
