SIBU: A member of PAS here, who has been arrested for allegedly criticising four MPs from DAP in his Facebook post, has tested positive for drugs.
Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said on Sunday (Jan 6) that a urine test was conducted on the 40-year-old suspect which came back positive for methamphetamine.
He said the man, who is also a manager of a tahfiz (religious school), has been further remanded.
Last Thursday (Jan 3), ACP Stanley said the suspect was arrested after a report was lodged by an assistant of Lanang MP Alice Lau.
He said at about 4.50pm on Wednesday (Jan 2), the 29-year-old assistant was browsing through her Facebook page when she stumbled upon a remark posted in the FB page of the suspect.
"In the post, the owner of the FB page hopes that the four YBs from DAP will perish for failing to organise a 'back to school' campaign for their constituencies," he added.
ACP Stanley said the suspect in doing so, wanted to let the voters know that they had failed to fulfil their election promises to serve the people.
"The man claimed that as the four are from the Pakatan Harapan government, they should have no problems in getting funds to organise beneficial activities for their voters.
"He also claimed that they did not even put in effort to take care of their constituents," said ACP Stanley.
The suspect, in his FB post, also wanted the four to turun padang (meet the people) regularly.
The man was remanded to assist investigations under Section 223 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and Section 507 of the Penal Code.
