Dr M to Jho Low: Don't worry, Malaysian judges are fair

PETALING JAYA:  Fugitive businessman Jho Low need not fear of not having a fair trial in Malaysia, as Malaysian judges are quite fair, says Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

"He must know he is guilty, so when he is guilty, he will feel that the judgement is not fair," said the Prime Minister.

He said everyone had to appear in court and not keep on dismissing the charges or getting judges that may serve an individual's personal interests.

"We have to accept the institution of the judiciary is not being interfered by this Government," he said after a meeting with Pakatan Harapan leaders.

It was reported that Low claimed that he would not get a fair trial in Malaysia s the Government had no interest in the rule of law.

In a statement issued by his lawyers, Low maintained his innocence and said that he will not submit to any jurisdiction, where guilt has been predetermined by politics.

On Dec 4, Low was charged in absentia with regard to offences involving 1Malaysia Development Fund.
