Owner loses sleep over ‘stud bull’

MELAKA: Vikram, the bull who impregnated five cows at about the same time, has gone missing for nearly two months and its owner Kulwant Singh Daljit can’t sleep.

The Australian Holstien species bull is believed to have been stolen, together with the expecting cows. Two other female cattle have disappeared too.

Kulwant said he had been experiencing sleepless nights since Vikram went missing on Sept 4 from his farm in Serkam, Jasin.

“Vikram is like my own flesh and blood,” said the 47-year-old. “He is very dear to me as my late mum gave me the money to buy him from another owner a couple of years ago.

“I believe my cows are still alive. No one in his or her right mind would slaughter a handsome romeo like Vikram or the pregnant cows.

“Before this, my parents were rearing cows in Ayer Leleh and I continued my family’s tradition.

“heartless thieves have dashed my dream of becoming a successful livestock farmer,” said the father of one.

Kulwant said he named his bull Vikram as it meant one who was “brave and strong” in the Sanskrit language.

“I am very sad now and hoping for a miracle. I want my Vikram and the pregnant cows back!”

Kulwant said all five were expected to deliver next month.

“A young Vikram would have been good for my livestock,” he said.
