CAAS: Firefly has not received okay to relocate

Firefly's CEO Ignatius Ong told StarBiz that the airline was currently exploring more destinations in Southern Thailand, Sumatra, and Indo-China for flights to and from Penang and Kota Bahru.

PETALING JAYA: The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) has claimed that Firefly did not receive approval from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) to move from Changi Airport to Seletar Airport, which resulted in the suspension of flights to Singapore.

Its spokesman said the CAAS informed Malaysia’s Transport Ministry and Firefly of the relocation of turboprop flights from Changi Airport to Seletar Airport back in 2014, in which the airline had agreed to relocate.
