Muhyiddin: Bersatu will not accept bad apples

PUTRAJAYA: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia is not interested in accepting people with tainted records as members, says Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

The party president said these included people like Mohd Ali Baharom, better known as Ali Tinju, and Sungai Besar Umno chief Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos.

"People can apply to join Bersatu, but it does not mean their application will be accepted. If we feel the applicant is not good, we will reject him.

"Ali Tinju is not one who is known for good things and the same goes for Jamal. Why should we accept people like these into our party?" said Muhyiddin at a press conference here.

Muhyiddin, who is also Home Minister, was responding to reports that Mohd Ali had applied to join Bersatu.

"Our party has principles. We will only accept people who we feel are aligned with the principles of our party's struggle – people without bad records or history," said Muhyiddin.
