KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional has unveiled its first "shadow budget", with a proposal to re-introduce the Goods and Services Tax (GST) at 3% being the key element.

Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin, who holds the shadow Finance Ministry portfolio, said the alternative budget titled People's Economic Initiative, seeks to reintroduce the GST, among others because the Sales and Service Tax (SST) had failed to bring down prices of basic goods and items.
