Rosmah to be grilled again by MACC

PETALING JAYA: Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor (pic) has another date with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today and she will most likely be charged tomorrow.

Her lawyer Datuk Geethan Ram Vincent confirmed that the wife of the former prime minister would appear at the MACC at 11am.

According to sources, this round may not end up with her being charged today but she may be detained.

Most likely, sources said, she would be charged tomorrow for offences under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (Amla).

The probe this time is likely to be related to Section 32(2)(a)(b) of Amla.

The lawyer had apparently received a call yesterday evening about the appointment for questioning over the investigation into SRC International Sdn Bhd, a former 1Malaysia Development Bhd subsidiary.

On Sept 26, Rosmah was questioned by the MACC for the second time at the MACC headquarters for 13 hours.

She first had her statement recorded by MACC investigators on June 5.

It was also reported on Sept 20 that the MACC was not ruling out the possibility that Rosmah would be charged soon.

On July 4, former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak was charged with three counts of criminal breach of trust and one count of using his position for gratification as part of a probe into funds missing from 1MDB.

On Aug 7, he was slapped with three counts of money laundering by receiving RM27mil, RM5mil and RM10mil, which were allegedly obtained from illegal activities, into his bank accounts in three separate transactions.

On Sept 20, Najib was hit with another 25 charges of graft and money laundering relating to transactions amounting to RM2.3bil that are linked to 1MDB.
