Dr Wan Azizah becomes first woman to chair Cabinet meeting

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail made history after becoming the first woman to chair the weekly Cabinet meeting.

“History made, first time in Malaysian history a woman is chairing the Cabinet meeting," the Deputy Prime Minister posted on her official Twitter account on Wednesday (Sept 26).

The Pandan MP chaired the Cabinet meeting, as Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is currently in New York on a five-day working visit to attend the 73rd United Nations General Assembly.

In May, Dr Wan Azizah was also sworn in as the country’s first female Deputy Prime Minister.
