KUALA LUMPUR: The organisers of the anti-Sales and Service Tax (SST) rally will be investigated for holding an illegal gathering.

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Shaharuddin Abdullah said the organisers failed to notify the police about the rally, which was held in front of Pertama Komplex here at about noon on Monday (Sept 17).

"They did not notify the police about organising the rally.

"We will investigate them under Section 9 of the Peaceful Assembly Act," he said.

Earlier, a group of people gathered in front of the shopping mall in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, to protest the implementation of SST, which they said was a burden on the people.

The rally was organised by NGOs Pemantau Malaysia and Gerakan Suara Rakyat.
