BATU PAHAT: Flash flood victims at a temporary shelter in a school here were overwhelmed by a visitor who dropped by unannounced.

Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar spent 30 minutes with the victims at SK Sungai Suloh here yesterday.

Sultan Ibrahim was accompanied by state secretary Datuk Azmi Rohani to check on their conditions.

The wet weather did not deter the Ruler from meeting the victims at the centre.

Many of the victims were taken by surprise but took the opportunity to mingle with Sultan Ibrahim.

The relief centre is housing 106 victims from 43 families.

The victims, from Kampung Sungai Suloh and Kampung Sungai Ayam, were evacuated there on Friday after their houses were hit by flash floods.

Sultan Ibrahim also paid a visit to the food preparation area where he met the volunteers and checked on the types of meals served to the victims.
