Winners in a row: Grand prize winner Ong (fourth from right) is flanked by (from left) Leong, the other fourwinners, Liong and Syed Mohd Aidid during the prize presentation ceremony at Gurney Paragon Mall.

GEORGE TOWN: He went for a walk and emerged a winner.

After taking part in Penang Starwalk for more than 20 years, Ong Poh Soon’s “loyalty” was rewarded with a lucky draw grand prize worth RM8,600 in total.

Ong, 66, won a Samsung Galaxy S9 smartphone and a three-day two-night stay at Pangkor Laut Resort.

“I can now bring my waterproof smartphone to any sporting event,” said the retired company supervisor.

“Before this, carrying a handphone could be worrying, especially when it rained.

“It will also be a fun family trip for us, together with my four children.

“We are also thinking of getting extra rooms.

“I can’t wait for this holiday,” said Ong, who takes part in about 20 to 30 sporting events a year.

He received the prizes from Star Media Group regional operations general manager (north) Simone Liong, who is also Penang Starwalk 2018 chairman, YTL Communications head of sales Leong Chee Sung and Penang Amateur Athletics Association (PAAA) president Datuk Syed Mohd Aidid Syed Murtaza yesterday.

Other prizes given out to lucky winners were Samsung tablets and mountain bikes.
