Google doodle features Malayan tiger

PETALING JAYA: The Malayan tiger was featured by Google in its doodle as Malaysia celebrated its 61st National Day.

Google said the animal represented strength and courage.

It noted that this year’s National Day celebration “will be particularly exciting” because for the first time in Malaysian history, its citizens had elected a new government.

“Proud Malaysian citizens will look forward to the future as they celebrate their nation and their flag, the Jalur Gemilang, when fireworks explode in their skies,” it said.

A Google “doodle” is what Google calls its decorative logo.

Doodles have become an iconic part of Google, celebrating and marking past and present events all over the world, including anniversaries and holidays.
