Krishnan had claimed that a Caucasian man with a blond beard robbed him at knifepoint while he was walking on a street here at 1am.
Police went to the scene of the alleged crime, spoke to residents and a security guard but found no witnesses.
They returned to the police station and confronted Krishnan, who then admitted it was a scam.He said that he wanted a copy of the report to convince his parents to send him more money and did not want to be scolded for blowing his budget. – The Nation/Asia News Network
