KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian video-on-demand service dimsum is making strides in expanding its Thai content by teaming up with two other media giants.

Dimsum announced its strategic partnership with GMM Grammy and has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Artop Media Company to further deliver the best Thai content for viewers.

Dimsum chief marketing officer Lam Swee Kim says some of the popular Thai titles available on dimsum include You are my Destiny, Flower Ring and Club Friday Celeb’s Stories.

“Artop Media Company and GMM Grammy are great partners, and we are excited to work together to ensure Thai entertainment lovers in the region have access to the best Thai content,” she said at the partnership announcement and MoU signing ceremony at the Top Thai Brands 2018 exhibition yesterday.

“Currently, Thai content is the second largest offering on dimsum. It’s among our top three (most popular offering) and some months it is our number one offering on dimsum,” she said, adding the Thai content on the platform had achieved more than one million views.

She said the next step forward for dimsum would be to focus on expanding its Chinese content offering, kids’ shows and anime titles.

Also present at the ceremony were GMM Grammy sales sponsorship head Jamorn Jirapaet, Artop Media Company chief executive officer Zhang Dong, and Thai International Trade Promotion department director-general Chantira Jimreivat Vivatrat.

Thai actors Thanat Lowkhunsombat (Lee Thanat) and Worranit Thavornvongs (Mook) from the My Dear Loser: Monster Romance series, who had flown in to Malaysia the night before, were also at the event.

As part of its collaboration with Artop Media Company, dimsum is able to bring over the two Thai stars to Kuala Lumpur where they will meet Malaysian fans at 2.30pm at the exhibition today.

Dimsum is participating in the exhibition from Aug 9 to 12, 10am to 6pm at Hall 5, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).

Visitors who patron the dimsum booth can find out more about the latest Thai content, participate in games and subscribe to dimsum at a promotional price of RM4.70 a month, compared to the normal monthly rate of RM13.90.
