PETALING JAYA: Cosmetics entrepreneur Datuk Seri Aliff Syukri Kamarzaman has accepted (redha) the loss of his Ferrari 458 Italia which went up in flames on the Kesas Highway on Thursday (July 26).
Aliff, 30, refused to make any speculation how it happened, and said he had handed the matter over to authorities to investigate the cause of the fire.
"My hopes are dashed … it's not even been 10 minutes and only ashes are left.
'Let the police investigate, I have accepted it and have resigned myself to it. Please give me strength, friends on Instagram and Facebook," he wrote on his Instagram account on the same day.
The Italian supercar is estimated to have cost RM1.8mil.
The incident occurred at KM39.5 on the Kesas Highway, heading from USJ to the Sunway toll plaza.
In a statement, the police said the car was being driven by an Australian man at the time, who realised that a fire had started at the exhaust pipe of the car and had stopped the vehicle in the emergency lane.
The Ferrari was destroyed in the fire, which was extinguished by a team of firemen from the Subang Jaya Fire and Rescue Station.
On Friday (July 27), Aliff uploaded a video which showed him in tears after seeing his Ferrari in flames.
In the comments section, the Badang actor confessed that the vehicle was his.
"I am a weak man… please strengthen my spirit, ya Allah. What should I do, my beloved car was bought for RM1.8mil," he said.
