PETALING JAYA: Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) will do a live broadcast of the "Fight of Champions" between octuple champion Manny Pacquiao and reigning WBA Welterweight World Champion Lucas Matthysse.
Boxing fans will have the chance to watch the fight live from the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil on Sunday (July 15) at 8am on TV1.
The match can also be watched on myFreeview on Channel 111 RTM HD.
"After more than four decades, boxing fans will have the chance to watch the "Fight of Champions" boxing match, the country's biggest boxing bout after the clash between Muhammad Ali and Joe Bugner in 1975," said the Communications and Multimedia Ministry in a statement on Saturday (July 14).
The 1975 match was broadcast live by RTM, and they are set to repeat history again by airing the live fight between Pacquiao and Matthysse on Sunday.
"Follow the live broadcast of the match with television host Azlan Mubin in the studio and Rasdi Jumaat as sports commentator throughout the game," said the Ministry.
Manny Pacquiao is a legendary fighter who is the only boxer in history to win world titles in eight weight classes.
He is also a senator in the Philippines. He will be challenging Lucas Matthysse for his secondary welterweight belt.
He is returning to a competitive fight for the first time in over a year since a controversial loss to Jeff Horn that cost his welterweight title.
During Saturday morning's official weigh-ins, Pacquiao came in at 146-lbs (66.2kg).
Matthysse, who will be defending his title, tipped the scales at 146.7-lbs (66.5kg).
