PETALING JAYA: US ambassador to Malaysia Kamala Shirin Lakhdhir has assured the Finance Ministry that assets seized from 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) will be returned to Malaysia as soon as possible.

Minister Lim Guan Eng revealed this on Twitter Tuesday (June 12) after a meeting with Kamala where they discussed American investments and companies in Malaysia.

“She reassured me that assets seized from 1MDB will be monetised and returned to Malaysia as early as possible,” Lim said.

Civil lawsuits have been filed by the US Department of Justice which were said to be bought with funds misappropriated from troubled state investment arm 1MDB.
