PETALING JAYA: Datuk Heng Seai Kie has urged the police to start investigations against the caller who commented about Nurul Izzah Anwar’s modesty during a Facebook Live talk show.
The Wanita MCA chairman was referring on an incident last Friday, where a man by the name of “Azrul” called solely to comment on the way the PKR vice-president dressed.
The man told Nurul Izzah to pay more attention to her modesty, saying that he could sometimes see her underwear, and even breasts when her headscarf is messy.
“YB’s tudung (scarf) is sometimes worn mistakenly, you know, the top part (of your dress) is visible,” the caller said.
Heng urged the police to trace and investigate the caller who made the remarks against Nurul Izzah.
“Commence investigations if there have been reports lodged,” she said in a statement.
Heng also urged the police to step up protection for all female elected representatives, as political figures are always mingling in public.
Without mincing her words, Heng labelled Azrul’s remarks as tantamount to sexual harassment and voyeurism.
“Any female would feel unsafe in public and anywhere else as her personal space has been violated,” she added.
