BN men boycott swearing-in of Perlis MB

KANGAR: No Barisan Nasional assemblymen showed up at Istana Arau when the Raja of Perlis swore in Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man (pic) today.

Only five assemblymen - two from PAS and three from PKR - were at the ceremony.

Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail criticised the Barisan representatives for playing politics for power instead of serving the rakyat.

Meanwhile, Perlis Barisan chairman Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim has called for a press conference in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon.

Although Perlis Barisan expressed support for Shahidan’s brother and Tambun Tulang assemblyman Datuk Ismail Kassim to be mentri besar, the Ruler appointed incumbent Azlan, declaring that he had performed in the previous term and was willing to serve the rakyat.

After being sworn-in, Azlan said at a press conference later he would appoint his exco members after seeking guidance from acting Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.
