Muhyiddin to meet Johor Sultan over MB post

JOHOR BARU:  State Pakatan Harapan chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will have an audience with Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar later on Thursday (May 10).

Pakatan vice-president Salahuddin Ayub said the appointment of the Mentri Besar would be the highlight of the meeting between Muhyiddin and His Majesty at around 10am.

“The candidates for the Johor Mentri Besar post will be discussed further in the Pakatan presidential council where the name must be agreed upon by all parties,” he said.

Salahuddin said this at a press conference at a hotel here after Pakatan won 36 state seats that enabled it to wrest Johor from Barisan Nasional in GE14.

Meanwhile, Johor Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Pribumi) secretary Datuk Osman Sapian said that the audience with the Sultan would take place either in Istana Pasir Pelangi or Istana Bukit Serene.

“The Johor Palace has requested that three names must be given to Sultan Ibrahim for the Mentri Besar’s post,” he said.

Osman, however, declined to reveal the individuals selected by Pakatan.
