SEREMBAN: A husband and wife who both suffer from hemiparesis, or weakness on one side of the body, are in need of RM7,000 to buy a new motorcycle and sidecar so that they can continue earning a living.

Jack Pang Kok Peng, 44, and Ng Siew Cheun, 39, have so far been able to care for themselves.

They earn a living by collecting and selling recycled goods.

However, they are now in a bind because Pang’s motorcycle often breaks down and their earnings cannot cover their monthly expenses.

The right side of Pang’s body became weak after a motorcycle accident when he was 21. His wife was born with the condition.

MCA Youth legal bureau chief Ng Kian Nam highlighted the couple’s plight to the media yesterday after learning of their need.

“I have checked with the people at the Mambau Chinese new village where they live, and they told me both Pang and his wife are very hardworking. The MCA wants to help them by raising the money to buy a new motorcycle,” he said.

Ng said those who wish to donate may remit their contributions to Alliance Bank account 1418 5001 0042 290, which belongs to the MCA Crisis Relief Squad.

They can also contact Ng’s secretariat at 012-331 0140 for details.
