Actress Maria Farida awarded RM400,000 damages in defamation suit


KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court has awarded actress Maria Farida (pic) RM400,000 in damages in her defamation suit filed against cosmetics businesswoman Hadijah Mohamed Mokhtar and her daughter last year.

Judicial Commissioner Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh ordered Hadijah to pay damages of RM300,000 while her daughter Nur Shazleen Anis Mohd Yusoff was to pay RM100,000 in damages to Maria Farida, whose real name is Maria Faridah Atienza.
