KUALA LUMPUR: Police have begun investigations into the controversial rapper Namewee over his recent Chinese New Year-themed video clip Like A Dog.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said the police were working with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to investigate the video clip under Section 298 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
“The investigation paper has been opened,” he told reporters after officiating a motorcycle convoy to bring awareness to the Tabung Amanah Warisan Polis, in conjunction with the 211th Police Day.
“We also know that currently he is overseas,” he said.
Last week, Namewee uploaded his clip for Chinese New Year featuring a group of individuals wearing a dog mask allegedly containing vulgar dance moves in Putrajaya.
