PETALING JAYA: Malaysia Airlines has refuted claims on social media that Flight MH8008 from Kuala Lumpur to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia was facing technical difficulties.

The airline said the A380-800 aircraft, which operates the route, was in good flying condition, adding that a Facebook post about the plane experiencing technical issues was a hoax.

It said that Flight MH8008 departed the KL International Airport (KLIA) at 12.53pm on Friday and is scheduled to arrive in Jeddah at 6pm (11pm Malaysian time) the same day.

"Malaysia Airlines takes the matter of fake posts very seriously. The airline would like to urge all passengers to refer to the Malaysia Airlines' official social media platforms or website for updates," MAS said in a statement.
