Coffee fix lands two in hospital

GEORGE TOWN: Two men ended up at the Penang Hospital recently, allegedly after drinking a "Durian White Coffee" beverage which left them severely fatigued.

Penang state health director Dr Wan Mansor Hamzah said the duo were still receiving treatment but in stable condition.

"They were admitted to the emergency unit in a very weak state and complained that it was the result of the coffee that they had drunk.

"We are digging deeper into the matter and conducting various tests including blood tests to find out what exactly happened," he told Bernama Tuesday (Jan 30).

He said the hospital would also be getting samples of the coffee for analysis.

Dr Wan Mansor said that the Penang Health Department would be issuing an official statement once the findings were in.

He advised anyone experiencing the same problem to seek treatment at the nearest hospital immediately.

Meanwhile, Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdulah on his Facebook account said that the Health Ministry learnt about the news after it went viral on social media.

He added that the Penang Health Department was probing the matter. – Bernama
