PETALING JAYA: The two “Datuks” who were remanded in connection with a graft probe into the controversial Penang undersea tunnel have been released from custody.
The duo, aged 49 and 59, were released on a bail of RM200,000 each, by the magistrate’s court in Putrajaya on Friday (Jan 19).
They were arrested on Jan 9 by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) before being remanded for six days beginning Jan 10.
The remand was then extended for another five days from Monday (Jan 15).
Meanwhile, it is learnt that the MACC is now looking into new leads that were obtained in the course of its probe into alleged kickbacks received by certain groups.
Investigations are focused on the feasibility studies for the undersea tunnel project and the processes involved in undertaking the project.
