Nur Sajat says meeting with Jakim was ‘positive’

PETALING JAYA: The Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) has met with cosmetics entrepreneur Nur Sajat amidst allegations that she may be a transgender.

The Star's Malay-language portal mStar reported that Nur Sajat, together with her parents, met Jakim's family, social and community development division deputy director Dr Mohd Izwan Yusof and some of the department's staff at Wisma Nur Sajat in Shah Alam on Tuesday.

Nur Sajat said that the meeting lasted for about an hour.

“No hot topics were discussed during the meeting,” she said, adding that it was more of a “get to know each other” session.

“My parents and I welcomed Jakim, just like how we would any other guest,” she told mStar.

However, Nur Sajat declined to say if Jakim was able to verify her identity.

“I’m sorry. I think what we discussed should be between us and not shared with others.

“In general, our meeting was positive and hopefully there will be a resolution to this,” she said.

The 33-year-old declined to elaborate, saying that there were people out there who were more willing to criticise rather than give words of encouragement.

“So it is better if I keep quiet and do not comment further on this,” she said.

However, she added that there was a possibility of another meeting with Jakim.

“This is a private discussion and if there is a meeting, I will share it on my Instagram account,” she said.
