PETALING JAYA: PAS is keeping its options open regarding which logo to use in the upcoming Melaka state election.
Its central committee member Khairil Nizam Khirudin said discussions are still ongoing on the matter.
“All possibilities are there, but the matter is still being discussed at the PAS central committee level.
“So, let’s wait. There will be information that we will convey,” he said.
According to Bersatu Youth information chief Harris Idaham Rashid, there are several possibilities should Bersatu decide to contest.
“First, we could contest using our own logo while being part of an electoral pact.
“Second, we cannot rule out the possibility of being in an electoral pact and using the logo of an existing coalition,” he said when contacted yesterday.
Harris added that the final decision would depend on negotiations and agreement among all parties involved.
The issue of which logo the Perikatan Nasional component parties will use follows the Registrar of Societies’ suspension of all Perikatan activities, which also affects the coalition’s ability to use its logo in the upcoming election.
The Melaka state assembly was dissolved on Wednesday to pave the way for the polls.
The other Perikatan component parties have also been contacted for their positions on the matter.
