Bread, bread but where’s the broom?


BUKIT MERTAJAM: There were crates upon crates of bread at the relief supplies centre. But there was no rush for food by flood victims. They wanted pails, brooms, mops and detergent to clean up the mess at their homes.

Seeing nothing but bread, a woman joked with her friends: “Let’s use all the bread like sponges and soak up the muddy water left in our houses. Everything is so dirty now so it won’t matter if we add bread to it.”
