KUALA LUMPUR: MCA will be providing aid to Penang, which has been hit by flash floods, says Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun (pic).
"The Crisis Relief Squad of MCA (CRSM) and our volunteers will be going to Penang, Kulim and Kedah to help the people there.
"I urge our members from Kedah, Penang and Perak to join and help," said the MCA vice-president during the debate session at the party's 64th annual general meeting Sunday.
"The people in Penang may have given up on MCA, but MCA will not give up on its people," said Chew, who is also the founder of CRSM.
Chew said MCA would gather all CRSM members and volunteers right after the AGM to discuss a plan of action.
The flood situation in Penang improved slightly by noon Sunday, but the Meteorological Department has forecast that bad weather will continue.
Putrajaya has also mobilised the police and the military to help with the flood situation.
Penang sought help after typhoon-like winds and torrential rain lashed the state since Saturday (Nov 4).
