Lorry mishap causes lunch-hour crawl

GEORGE TOWN: An overturned truck slowed down traffic heading to George Town at the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway.

The driver lost control of his vehicle at about 1pm yesterday when a front tyre burst.

The lorry landed on its side and the boxes of bottled water carried by the lorry scattered all over the road.

State traffic police enforcement chief Supt Roslan Ali said when contacted that the lorry and the scattered bottles blocked two-thirds of the road and caused traffic congestion.

“The driver escaped with minor injuries and traffic returned to normal soon after the lorry was removed,” he said.
