PETALING JAYA: A 58-year-old woman was critically injured in a hit-and-run incident involving a motorcycle at a zebra crossing in Pulau Tikus, Penang.

The shocking scene of the woman being struck by a speeding motorcyclist was captured on CCTV as well a motorist’s dashboard camera.

In one of the videos, other road users are seen stopping at the pedestrian crossing while the woman walks across.

As she nears the other side of the road, a motorcyclist collides into her, losing his helmet in the process, but he continues riding as the victim lies sprawled in the middle of the road.

The incident occurred Thursday morning along Jalan Burma, just opposite the Pulau Tikus police station where the victim’s family lodged a police report on the matter.

The victim has since been admitted to Penang Hospital.

According to one of her family members, the victim is in critical condition.
