GEORGE TOWN: Sundry shops in the Little India enclave here have been filled with customers over the past few days as Tamils gear up for Ponggal (harvest festival) tomorrow.

Bags containing clay pots, sugar cane, rice, ghee (clarified butter), milk, turmeric leaves, incense sticks and other traditional paraphernalia were lugged around as families went on their last minute shopping.
